More Information
'Head' was acquired by Max Sauerlandt, then the director of the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe of Hamburg in 1931. The museum acquired the work from Moore's second solo exhibition at The Leicester Galleries, London, 1931. In 1937 the work, along with other examples of so-called degenerate art, was confiscated by the Nazi government and almost certainly destroyed.
