Moore was made a foreign member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts, Institut de France, in 1973. The regalia associated with this honour required a sword, for which Moore made a series of sketches for the hilt and pommel. The sword, made in silver by Cartier and incorporating the small Double Head 1928 LH 53 in bronze as the pommel, was presented to Moore in 1975.
