2023-25 San Diego/Albuquerque/Montreal/Boston, Georgia O'Keeffe and Henry Moore: Giants of Modern Art

12 May 2023 - 09 June 2024
The first exhibition to examine in parallel the works of Georgia O'Keeffe and Henry Moore and their contributions to the artistic development of the 20th century, centring on the attention to natural forms that underpinned both artists' creative processes.
More Information

Uniting the work of Moore and O'Keeffe for the first time, this exhibition features over 100 paintings and sculptures as well as re-creations of both artists' studios with their vast collections of found objects, alongside tools and furnishings. Visitors are able to explore the artists' working practices and the inspiration each took from the animal skulls and bones, gnarled tree roots and twisted driftwood, internal coils of seashells, interlocking pebbles and hollowed stones with which they surrounded themselves. Parallels are drawn between these two artists in their pioneering approaches to Modernism through their use of natural forms, and their enduring associations with the landscapes that were essential to their work. Curated by Anita Feldman, Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs and Education at The San Diego Museum of Art.

The exhibition is open at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Canada until 2 June 2024. See https://www.mbam.qc.ca/en/exhibitions/okeeffe-and-moore/
