More Information
Notebook No.4 p.174. Dr Terry  Friedman has suggested that the river depicted here is the Thames rather than the Arno. He believes that the suspension bridge in the background of the drawing is either the Chelsea or Hammersmith bridge. In July 1925, Moore found accommodation at 3 Grove Studios, Adie Road, Hammersmith, within easy walking distance of that bridge.                         Moore added the title 'View of the Arno' in 1972. The text on the verso is a draft letter to William Rothenstein.
