This drawing was the basis for a 1939 sculpture Reclining Figure (LH 202). Compare with HMF 1391a: Moore has slightly changed the pose of the reclining figure in HMF 1391a, making a more pronounced right angle between the now upright spine and the buttocks. This change adds greatly to the dynamic power of the figure; in the sketch the angle of the pose would have been very difficult to hold for any length of time - something quite contrary to Moore's stated aims in his sculpture.
