Several of the ideas in this and the following drawing relate to Three Points 1939-40 (LH 211), particularly the sketch second from left in the top row seen here. The subject of points in Moore's sculpture reappeared in Spindle Piece 1968-69 (LH 592) and Oval with Points 1968-70 (LH 596), for which the sketch lower centre right - like a figure 8 turned on its side - is the earliest reference.
