The left-hand drawing in the middle row of the recto may presage a 1938 sculpture, Mother and Child (LH 186). The verso remains a mystery; no illustration is known, but a description is given on the back of photographs of the recto, and in the Basle 1970 catalogue where it is dated 1939.
